Required Dances

Intermediate Trophy Competition

  1. Under 8 – Reel and Light Jig (subsidiary competition, Hop Jig)
  2. Under 9 – Reel and Heavy Jig (subsidiary competition, Light Jig)
  3. Under 10, 12, 14, 15 and over – Reel, Heavy Jig and hornpipe

Please note that if the numbers in these competitions are over 20 there will be a recall for the hornpipe

Open Championships

  1. Under 8 – Reel, light jig and heavy jig
  2. Under 9 – Reel, heavy jig and traditional set dance
  3. Under 10 – Reel, heavy jig and hornpipe
  4. Under 11 – Reel/slip jig, jig/hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  5. Under 12 – Reel/slip jig, jig/hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  6. Under 13 – Reel/slip jig, jig/hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  7. Under 14 – Reel/slip jig, jig/ hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  8. Under 15 – Reel/slip jig, Jig/hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  9. Under 16 – Reel/slip jig, jig/ hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  10. Under 17 – Reel/slip jig, jig/hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  11. 18 -19 - Reel/slip jig, jig/hornpipe and open set dance (boys and girls)
  12. Senior – 20 and over – reel/slip jig, jig/hornpipe and open set dance (ladies and men)

Please enter your choice of dance on the entry form.
Where there are insufficient entries in any older age groups, it will be at the discretion of the committee to combine and make a double age group.
Separate boys and men’s competitions will only be held if there are 3 or more competitors (see rule 16)
Ceili dances to be taken from books 1/2/3
Under 10, 12, 16 and senior Figure dances – teachers own invention – Under 16 and Over 16

NB: Please note that if there are sufficient entries received under 7 years (5 or more) we will make an extra competition in the Intermediate and the Open sections, alternating with the under 8’s. We will only know if the date of birth is entered correctly on the entry form. The required dances will be reel, light jig and hop jig.
