Rules of the
European Irish Dancing Championships 2012
Please note that these rules will be strictly adhered to throughout the event
- 1. Age to be taken as on the 1st January 2012.Proof of age to be furnished if requested by the Feis organisers
- 2. Entries accepted only from teachers registered with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha
- 3. Entries should be on the enclosed official form which must be fully completed. The dancers FIRST NAME, SURNAME and DATE OF BIRTH must be entered in BLOCK CAPITALS and signed by the teacher.
- 4. Figure Championships: Please indicate title and theme of dance with teacher’s entry. Special music arrangements to be organised prior to the event.
- 5. Ceili Championships: Please indicate name of dance (to be taken from books 1,2 and 3)
- 6. Intermediate dancers are those who have never won a 1st place in any of the required dances.
- 7. ENTRY FEES in £ sterling to be paid by bankers draft or cheque (recorded on the entry form) ANY CHEQUES NOT IN STERLING WILL BE RETURNED.
- 8. All cheques to be made payable to; The European International Championships
- 9. All cheques to be sent to; Eileen Lally, 3 Mellington Avenue, East Didsbury, Manchester,M20 5WE
- 10. Solo Championships incorporating 2 solo’s (1 light, 1 heavy) Fee £25 sterling
- 11. Intermediate Trophy competitions incorporating 2 solo’s (1 light, 1 heavy) Fee £20 sterling
- 12. Figure and Ceili Championships Fee £5 per person per dance
- 13. Any other Ceili dancing competition i.e. 4 hand and 6 hand Fee £2 per dancer
- 14. Closing date for entry fees is Saturday 14th April 2012 and no entries will be accepted after that date. Fees will not be refunded.
- 15. Please note that entries received after the closing date will be returned
- 16. Separate Boys and Men’s Championships will only be held if there are 3 or more male competitors, OTHERWISE THE MALE AND FEMALE SECTIONS WILL BE COMBINED
- 17. THE ADJUDICATORS DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND ADJUDICATORS CAN ONLY BE APPROACHED BY MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE.
- 18. Any objections must be made in writing to the Feis Secretary, signed by the objector and accompanied by a FEE of £10 sterling which will be refunded if
the objection is sustained
- 19. Video cameras or mobile phones with video capability will not be allowed in the hall
- 20. No flash cameras allowed in the hall while competitors are dancing
- 21. Hairsprays and similar other cosmetics or hygiene substances must not be used in the public areas of the venue.
- 22. Changing facilities will be provided and must be used. Changing in the hall is strictly prohibited and the dress code in accordance with An Coimisiun ruling
will be observed at all times. Dancers will not be allowed to walk around in competition areas in bikinis without footwear or in their underwear. Dancers will be dressed and ready to dance at least 30 minutes prior to the timetable and all dancers must dance in numerical order.
- 23. Only competitors and committee members will be allowed side stage
- 24. The committee will as far as it is practicable, provide stage surfaces suitable for dancing. However, the committee and the Hotel Cabo Carvera cannot
accept ANY liability for injuries sustained whilst on stage. The lodgement of entry will be deemed to be an acceptance of this provision by the dancer.
- 25. Entrance into the hall will be10 EURO, programmes will be on sale for 5 EURO.
- 26. No food, drink or smoking will be allowed in the hall
- 27. Reservation of seats will not be allowed
- 28. The timetable is subject to change after all the entries have been received.
- 29. Parents and teachers are responsible for all children in their care whilst they are on the Championship Hotel site. The hotel management or staff will not tolerate abusive or bad behaviour and they will not hesitate to ask them to leave.
- 30. ALL CHAMPIONSHIP CUPS ARE PERPETUAL AND ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HOLDER FOR THE RELEVANT YEAR. THE HOLDER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE AND FOR THE SAFE KEEPING OF THE TROPHY WHILST IN THEIR CUSTODY,THEY MUST ALSO UNDERTAKE TO ENSURE IT’S SAFE RETURN PRIOR TO THE EVENT THE FOLLOWING YEAR.ACCEPTANCE OF THE TROPHY AUTOMATICALLY CONFERS UPON THE HOLDER THESE RESONSIBILITIES
- 31. As from January 1st 2006, no block, en pointe, stationary or moving, will be allowed to be performed by any dancers up to and including the under 12 age group.
- 32. PLEASE NOTE: THE HOTEL WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO WALK INTO ANY AREA OF THE HOTEL WITHOUT FOOTWEAR (especially from the pool). THE CLEANERS ARE VERY STRICT ABOUT WET FEET AND NOT USING THE LITTER BINS PROVIDED. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO PLEASE OBEY THIS RULE!
